Your router is your first line of defense

During your day-to-day browsing, you could be oblivious to the number of attacks or attempts on your PC are being blocked by your anti-virus alone. Your anti-virus might work great, but what if your router could eliminate those threats even before your PC picks them up? Would we even need an anti-virus? (yes, you would).

ASUS have a select range of routers that are equipped with AiProtection. AiProtection works as the first line of defence blocking any malicious attacks on to you PC from websites, email attachments, or any download which would slip by with normal routers. It’s so effective that in 2016 ASUS announced their routers, with AiProtection, “neutralised almost five million internet-based threats and nearly 150 million blocked attempts to visit websites with hidden security threats during the first half of 2016,” via VR-Zone.

Last year ASUS sent me the RT-AC3200 and it has been an absolute dream in terms of simplicity, and that’s just setting it up. I’m able to track my home network, make use of the adaptive QoS and, most importantly, secure my network with AiProtection.

It’s really as easy as two clicks. You simply scan and then secure your network. But what is AiProtection, and how does it work?

ASUS AiProtection includes an intrusion prevention system (IPS) which features a Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) engine which analyses all incoming data packets as well as outgoing on your home network. This engine blocks any malicious or suspicious packets whether they are originating from a website, mobile phone, PC, email attachment, they’re all blocked.

AiProtection is also updated automatically and features “rapid-reaction updates” to make sure your device is always protected.
