Let you nostalgia kick in with the original Tomb Raider (and Lara Croft) in a new project called OpenTomb. The initial phase, OpenLara, is a project that modder XProger has been working on for several months, and now it’s playable in your browser with unlocked FPS.

This engine remake of the 1996 Tomb Raider (easily one of the greatest games) is still in the early phases, but the City of Vilcabamba (which is level 2) is now playable as a test on the “OpenLara” engine. The final phase is a port of the entire game. It has everything the original game had including a “browse level” option to load into your favourite levels. Fight bears, wolves and swim underwater and it even has the same old play style in both first and third-person view.

You’ll be sent straight back to your childhood with this one, and good luck learning all the controls because they’re very, very different. It’s a great way to kill time, but what’s even better is the graphics at unlimited FPS. I know we mentioned that already, but it really is something special.

We now need the entire game! Please, make it happen. Head on over here and give it a go!
